New season update! So, another season of softball is upon us. Watch this space for our progress during the season, and check out the team page for some new faces in the crew.
We are a co-ed softball team playing on London, merry 'ole England. We play our regular season home games in Regents Park, and we play our away games at the home fields of our opponents in the league in various parts of London.
Besides the regular season, we play in a number of one day and two day weekend tournaments, the object of which is to be the best team on the day or days. These take place throughout the summer.
So, Muppets? Well, with all respect and apologies to Jim Henson, the term "muppet" has entered into the UK English lexicon as a slang term for someone who acts, well, like a muppet. Kind of goofy, a little irreverent, and with the amount of brains that you would expect from a creature with cotton stuffing for a brain. So, after a number of years as the Eagles, which, while a fine name, just didn't inspire (or for that matter, reflect the play of the team on the field), the search was on for a more appropriate name. Given the antics of our team, the Muppets was a perfect fit. And it had the added bonus of striking even more fear into our opponents than the Eagles (because come on, let's face it, who wants to get beat by a bunch of muppets?!).
So, have a look around, but try not to move the furniture (Miss Piggy gets really upset when you do that!).
